Offers Solutions to Customers
Benz Oil takes pride in developing a product that meets the customer's
exact needs. Benz Oil's work with General Motors is no different.
GM was having an issue with a machine and called Benz Oil in to
help determine the problem and a possible solution.
After careful research it was determined that a grinding burn was
the key issue. The staff at Benz Oil learned all they could about
grinding burn, performed rigorous field trials and determined what
additives help reduce grinding burn.
The
research and recommendations were presented to the GM staff, determining
that in-factory tests need to be conducted, the staff worked with
GM to determine what Benz HP oils would be selected for testing
in the GM facilities. These tests would help determine what oils
and additives would work best in the existing system and meet the
needs of GM. Results of the in-factory tests showed excellent wheel
life and surface finish accompanied by superior filterability. All
of which are very essential issues in reducing grinding burn. GM
approved of the use of HP oils in the oil systems and requested
that all systems be converted to the Benz oil.
As of spring 2000, GM Cam Lobe grinding process and the CamShaft
gun drilling operation, as well as others run strictly off of Benz
oils. They make use of the HP 15, 22 and 68 oils. Along with identifying
correct lubricants to utilize in the GM system, Benz also worked
with GM to develop a filtration system and made all grinding machines
compatible with the use of Benz HP oil.
By utilizing Benz oils in GM's grinding processes it increases
the life of the grinders while reducing grinding burn. The continuing
process illustrates the dedication Benz has to identifying, solving
and serving the customer's needs.
